In 2008, the Canadian Common CV (CCV) Board of Directors approved the implementation of a business plan that provides the strategic direction required to support the CCV vision.   One of the key changes recommended in this business plan was to design a new CCV application built on a consolidated set of CV data elements.

In March 2009, a Consolidated Data Set Committee was initiated and tasked with defining a consolidated data set to be applied in the CCV renewal.  This Committee leveraged existing CCV data fields, CASRAI standards and other standards to define a proposed consolidated data set.  A first draft of this consolidated data set was distributed to existing subscribers for comment in June 2009.  Feedback received was incorporated into this current version of the Consolidated Data.  Where possible, data captured in the current CCV application has been included.

The consolidated data set is the listing of all possible data elements that can be captured in the CCV.  Elements included in this data set must be aligned with the approved CCV vision – to capture standardized CV data for research funding application or for reporting purposes and to showcase Canadian Researcher expertise.

The new application will be flexible enough to allow each subscriber to select which data elements to present to end-users for a particular funding application.
